Injectables

What is the difference between Botox® Cosmetic and Dermal Fillers?

Botox® Cosmetic is a drug that blocks nerve transmission and relaxes the underlying muscle, whereas Dermal Filler is a natural, non-animal cosmetic filler. Both injections work great together, amplifying the results of the other as they actually work differently. Botox relaxes the facial muscles to lessen the appearance of lines and wrinkles, while Fillers is injected in creases of the skin and give you a smooth plumping effect!

What is Botox® Cosmetic?

Botox® Cosmetic is a naturally purified protein produced by Clostridium Botulium bacterium and has been used for more than 20 years to treat a variety of medical conditions. It temporarily relaxes the muscles that cause wrinkles and reduces wrinkles in the forehead, between the eyebrows and crow's feet. It is safe and affective.

How long do Botox® Cosmetic treatments last?

Botox® Cosmetic treatments generally last 3 to 6 months. Just 2 to 3 treatments a year will help a person to maintain a more youthful, fresh, and well-rested appearance. With reapplication results tend to last longer.

When are the results of Botox® Cosmetics apparent?

Results are most apparent in 2-14 days. There is no down time and it last for 4 months.* *Disclaimer: Results may vary from person to person.

What is Dermal Filler?

Dermal filler, also known as injectable implants, soft tissue fillers, or wrinkle fillers are medical device implants used in helping to create a smoother and/or fuller appearance in the face, including nasolabial folds, cheeks and lips and for increasing the volume of the back of the hand.

Is Dermal Filler safe?

Dermal Filler has been used by physicians worldwide since 1996. Dermal Filler is completely biocompatible and therefore allergy testing is not required; allergy testing is necessary for collagen injections.

How long do Dermal Fillers last?

Dermal Fillers has proven to deliver long-lasting results, ranging from 6 to 16 months. Having a touch-up treatment before the area has fully dissipated may enhance the duration of the Dermal Filler administered areas.

Facials

Can makeup be worn after a facial?

Ideally, we prefer that you allow your skin to continue to absorb the nutrients and hydration without make-up. However, putting on make-up after will not harm your facial.

Do I need to remove my makeup before a facial?

Yes, you must arrive to your appointment with a freshly washed face. If you are unable to remove your make up prior to receiving your treatment, please notify us via telephone or email prior to your appointment.

How do I know which facial is right for me?

Request a consultation by booking an appointment and a skin specialist will provide you with a full skin analysis and guide you as to which facial is best suited for your skin type and skin concerns.

What is Dermaplaning?

Dermaplaning is a treatment that uses a medical scalpel to gently exfoliate the outer layer of dead skin cells and remove fine facial hair commonly known as “peach fuzz”, technically called “vellus” hair

Does it hurt? Will it cause cuts?

Dermaplaning is effective by performing a gentle scraping motion across the skin’s surface. With hair removal such as waxing and threading, most people have the idea that all hair removal is painful, but Dermaplaning is entirely painless. There are risks of cuts on the skin, however they are small and very minor as the pressure used for Dermaplaning cannot cause a deep cut. These nicks and scrapes heal within 24-48 hours.

What is the difference between dermaplaning and microdermabrasion?

Both options are a form of physical exfoliation. Dermaplaning removes vellus hair (peach fuzz) and dead skin cells from the skin, microdermabrasion also exfoliate the surface of the skin, but not as thoroughly or deeply as dermaplaning does.

What is microneedling?

Collagen induction therapy – also known as microneedling – is a skin treatment procedure that involves an electric skin-needling device. The device contains very fine needles used to break down old scar tissue and push skin cell generation. Cell production leads to the creation of new layers of elastin and collagen fiber and leads to improved blood flow in the skin.

Is microneedling painful?

Prior to the treatment, numbing cream can be applied to minimize pain that is felt during the procedure.

How do I take care of my skin after the treatment?

It is recommended that patients protect their skin from the sun after the procedure and clean his/her face with a gentle cleanser every day (day & night). AHAs (glycolic Acid), retinol, acidic or active ingredients should not be used for two to three days after treatment to allow for maximum healing. Sun exposure is not recommended and sunscreen is encouraged.

How many treatments are needed? How often can microneedling treatments be repeated?

Microneedling can be safely repeated every four to six weeks as needed. Collagen induction requires at least three treatments, while scar reduction requires between three and six. Four to six weeks should pass between one treatment and the next. Usually results begin to appear after the first treatment.

Body Treatments

When are non-invasive treatments appropriate?

Non-invasive treatments are appropriate for excess fat removal and body contouring with proper patient expectations.

Are non-invasive treatments painful?

The treatments are well tolerated by most patients. On occasion, a burning sensation may be felt.

Who is not a candidate for non-invasive treatments?

Patients who regard non-invasive removal of excess fat as a substitute for proper diet and exercise also are not good candidates. Patients with pacemakers, defibrillators or aneurysms are not candidates for radiofrequency treatment.

What are the potential complications of non-invasive treatments?

  • Redness in treated area lasting no more than a few hours.

  • Localized bruising that usually clears within a few hours.

What can I expect after having had non-invasive treatments?

  • Non-invasive procedures to remove excess fat involve minimal recovery time; patients can resume their normal activities the same day.
  • Non-invasive therapies typically require multiple treatment sessions.
  • Patients will observe a visible decrease in fat bulges in two to four months.
