What is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a treatment that uses a medical scalpel to gently exfoliate the outer layer of dead skin cells and remove fine facial hair commonly known as “peach fuzz”, technically called “vellus” hair
Does it hurt? Will it cause cuts?
Dermaplaning is effective by performing a gentle scraping motion across the skin’s surface. With hair removal such as waxing and threading, most people have the idea that all hair removal is painful, but Dermaplaning is entirely painless. There are risks of cuts on the skin, however they are small and very minor as the pressure used for Dermaplaning cannot cause a deep cut. These nicks and scrapes heal within 24-48 hours.
What is the difference between dermaplaning and microdermabrasion?
Both options are a form of physical exfoliation. Dermaplaning removes vellus hair (peach fuzz) and dead skin cells from the skin, microdermabrasion also exfoliate the surface of the skin, but not as thoroughly or deeply as dermaplaning does.
What is microneedling?
Collagen induction therapy – also known as microneedling – is a skin treatment procedure that involves an electric skin-needling device. The device contains very fine needles used to break down old scar tissue and push skin cell generation. Cell production leads to the creation of new layers of elastin and collagen fiber and leads to improved blood flow in the skin.
Is microneedling painful?
Prior to the treatment, numbing cream can be applied to minimize pain that is felt during the procedure.
How do I take care of my skin after the treatment?
How many treatments are needed? How often can microneedling treatments be repeated?
Microneedling can be safely repeated every four to six weeks as needed. Collagen induction requires at least three treatments, while scar reduction requires between three and six. Four to six weeks should pass between one treatment and the next. Usually results begin to appear after the first treatment.
